Hood strut replaced, stupid Safelite

After getting back from getting my windshield replaced by Safelite I popped the hood and notice that the hood strut (shock) didn’t actually do anything anymore. Looks like a seal broke and wasn’t holding anymore. As I couldn’t prove they had broken it I just went and purchased a new one. Shopdap.com to the rescue part number 5GM-823-359, had it to me a few days later.

Replacing is very simple. There is a clip on each end that you need to pry up with a flathead screwdriver. Once off you just press each side of the new one on. Takes just a minute to do.
