New Tires – Firestone Indy 500’s

Miles: 79487

Old tires were done so time for some new ones. Trying out the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 225/40R18 tires this time around. These tires are rated UTQG: 340 A A 92W. 340 is a softer tire so will be interesting to see how they hold up. Last set was very hard at 500 and all season so big difference in type of tire. Surely the Indy 500’s will grip and hook up better.

I debating getting the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ again as they really treated me well. But with the climate I live in the temp doesn’t get too low and rain is typically a short season for us.

These are some highly loved tires in the performance market due to their price to sticky ratio. Sure tires like the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are better but at $100 more a piece its hard to justify it over the Indy 500. Especially with how much debris my tires pick up around where I live, it makes it easier to just pay to change out a tire.

And that brings me to the plan. Instead of changing out all four tires like I am currently which hurts my wallet all at once. I am going to do singles when newer or pair if warn as it makes sense. This will spread out the cost making it easier to deal with. I will likely have consistently nicer tires and funds will get hit more evenly.
